Whitehaven ferry

Take a ride into history when you cross the Wicomico River on this three-car ferry.

The first ferry began operating in 1688, and the present ferry is thought to be the oldest continuously operating in the United States.

The Wicomico County Department of Public Works operates and maintains the Whitehaven Ferry free of charge. The ferry crosses between the quaint town of Whitehaven in Wicomico County and the Mount Vernon area of Somerset County.
